Fondé par Etienne Mbappé (bassite de John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Salif Keita...), NEC+ est né en avril 2019, sur la scène du Baiser salé Jazz Club et réunit, autour du bassiste aux mains gantées de soie noire, les baguettes magiques de Nicolas Viccaro à la batterie, et la finesse harmonique, la beauté mélodique, et l’archet déchirant de Christophe Cravero, au piano et au violon. Trois noms, un projet à trois lettres, une base rythmique basse/batterie face aux envolées électriques du clavier, une soirée où la fusion est légion ! Les trois musiciens se connaissent bien pour tourner dans le monde entier avec Les Prophets d’Etienne Mbappé. L’alchimie est là, elle est connue et reconnue pour se prolonger in fine en format trio, terrain de jeu pour 3 géants du jazz !
NEC+ distille une musique intense, surprenante, chantante, dansante… aux sonorités résolument jazz, où soufflent parfois les vents d’Afrique et d’ailleurs. Une musique aérienne, quand les harmonies cristallines enlacent des mélodies caressantes ; terrienne, quand les rythmiques sauvages expriment une audacieuse soif de liberté. Le trio fusionne les genres en faisant la part belle à l’improvisation.

Founded by Etienne Mbappé (bassist to John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Salif Keita...), NEC+ was born in April 2019, on the stage of the Baiser salé Jazz Club and brings together, around the bassist with his black silk-gloved hands, the magic sticks of Nicolas Viccaro on drums, and the harmonic finesse, melodic beauty, and heart-rending bow of Christophe Cravero, on piano and violin. Three names, a three-letter project, a rhythmic bass/drums base facing the electric flights of the keyboard, an evening where fusion is legion! The three musicians know each other well, having toured the world with Etienne Mbappé's Les Prophets. The alchemy is there, it's known and recognized, and in the end it extends into a trio format, a playground for 3 jazz giants!
NEC+ distills intense, surprising, singing, dancing music... with a resolutely jazz sound, sometimes blown by winds from Africa and elsewhere. Airy music, where crystalline harmonies embrace caressing melodies; earthy, where wild rhythms express an audacious thirst for freedom. The trio fuses genres, giving pride of place to improvisation.
